Chigwell 7-0 Byron B Sun 9th May 2010 league
Chigwell rounded off the season with a professional performance against battling Byron to finish a creditable 3rd in their first season of 11 a side football in the highly competitive echo A division.
Charlie opened the scoring on two minutes, he created it himself with some good footwork inside the area and calmly finished. Arberi soon got on the scoresheet with two goals of his own, The second was a delight, A good ball over the top from Jordan sat up nicely for Arberi to chip over the oncoming keeper, Ryan soon made it four (and two goals in two games for him personally) with a good shot from a tight angle with his left foot.
Full credit must be given to Byron who came out strong in the second half and battled for every ball. Vinnie was having a good game in defence working hard to keep Byrons quick forward quiet. Chigwells fifth was the best goal of the game, Morad received the ball on the edge of his own area and travelled to the half way line before releasing Joe out on the right wing, Joe in turn gained some ground then released Charlie who calmly rounded the keeper to score his second of the game.
The loudest cheer of the game was reserved for Tom though who scored a cracker with his left foot which flew over the keepers head from just outside the penalty area (Just reward for how he's been playing over the last few weeks). Arberi finished off a great performance with the seventh to complete his hat trick and was perhaps a little unlucky to be pipped to man of the match by Chigwells keeper James.
James by his own admission hadn't had the best of weeks but today he showed everyone what he is capable of. Apart from a stunning save to keep a clean sheet he came out for everything, instilling confidence in all and reminding us that on his day he is the best in the league.

Redbridge 3-5 Chigwell Thurs 6th May 2010 league
The game started with both teams trying to play some nice football despite the long grass. In the early stages Redbridge's front two were causing the most problems and were rewarded when the ball was played over the Chigwell defence, their forward reacted quickest to give them the lead. Chigwell responded well with Myles and Morad gaining the upper hand in midfield, Arberi and Charlie had a couple of half chances before the boys broke away with a nice passing move, the ball was fed onto Morad who managed to equalise at the second attempt. Chigwell then won the ball in defence, played it through the midfield where the ball found Arberi in the box and he cooly chipped the ball over the goalkeeper 2-1.
Redbridge responded well putting pressure on to try and get the scores level which they managed a couple of minutes before half time, the ball was played into the box where Chigwell's defence had ample opportunities to clear the ball but Redbridge capitalised to go in level.
The second half began like the first with both teams trying to get the upper hand, Chigwell scored once again with a nice move down the left, Ryan playing the ball onto Man of the match Tom who squared it to Arberi who fired it into the net to score his 15th of the season and put Chigwell 3-2 ahead.
Redbridge once again responded well, The ball was played through the middle of Chigwell's defence where the unfortunate James let the ball slip through his grasp for Redbridge to poke the ball into the empty net 3-3
The boys showed their spirit by again gaining the upper hand by playing some good football, the ball was played through midfield where Myles played a nice through ball to Arberi who charged into the area and was brought down by the Redbridge keeper, Joe stepped forward to take it but his penalty struck the bottom of the right hand post and was cleared away. To be fair Chigwell never let there heads drop and went ahead again with 15 minutes left through a good move down the right, Tom swung the ball into the area Redbridge failed to clear the ball properly falling to Ryan just inside the area who smashed a great shot into the top left hand corner to score his first Chigwell goal and put the boys 4-3 ahead. The game was still on a knife edge with both sets of players knowing the importance of the game, Chigwells defence was holding its own, James had recovered from earlier clearing well on a couple of occasions by coming off his line sharply.
Chigwell put the game to bed with 5 minutes to go through Joe, determined to make up for his penalty miss, he picked up the ball on the edge of the area, side stepped a couple of defenders before firing a lovely shot from just inside the area into the back of the net to give a deserved 5-3 lead. Full credit to an under strengthed Redbridge who refused to give in, they were rewarded with a penalty with two minutes to go after Morad had tracked back well but unluckily clipped the forward. James stood tall and his presence was enough to put the taker off. The ball struck the top of the crossbar and was cleared. The boys played out a nervy final two minutes to finish 5-3 victors. Full credit to Redbridge who battled well with a bare 11 all game.

Chigwell 0-3 Boca B Wed 28th April 2010 league
Chigwell started the game ok, first chance fell to Chigwell, Joe passed the ball onto Arberi who's shot went just wide, next chance fell to Morad from outside of the area but the shot went wide as well. Boca started to dominate the game, the Chigwell team were looking flat and not playing to their usual standard, The defence were looking shaky and it wasn't long before Boca deservedly opened the scoring, Chigwell had a couple of half chances to draw level before the referee blew to end a disappointing first half for Chigwell.
The second half began with a change of pitch! ( apologies to all) Chigwell were looking more up for it and almost equalized, the ball was played through by Myles to Arberi who held off a Boca defender went into the area hit to the goalkeepers right but unluckily hit the post. Boca broke away the forward running to the edge of the area where James come out bravely to clear, unfortunately he injured his leg in the save. George put the gloves on and Chigwell soon had another good chance, the ball was played out to Charlie on the right wing who beat the defender into the box and shot across goal just wide of the right hand post. Boca looked dangerous whenever they attacked! Midway through the half their keeper went up front, it wasn't long after that when Boca increased there lead to 2-0. Chigwell defence once again failed to clear an easy ball leaving it for Boca to stab the ball into the net. Chigwell had another chance through Joe who's shot from the edge of the area was saved well. With the final minutes approaching Boca broke away down the right played the ball into the box for the forward to blast into the corner of the net to finish the game deservedly 3-0 winners.
To be fair the midfield and forward line were working well but were let down for the first time this season by the back four! Chigwell's defence simply weren't at the races today and in the end that proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Chigwell 4-1 County Park Sun 25th April 2010 league
Chigwell started the game brightly, playing some nice passing football against a well organised County Park. In an entertaining first half Chigwell had a couple of early chances through Arberi and Myles with both efforts going just wide. Joe was unlucky with a great header from a corner. Both teams were playing some good football, Joe, Myles, Morad and Charlie were starting to get the upper hand in midfield and Chigwell were rewarded with a special goal! After successfully defending a County corner Ryan (having another solid game at left back) brought the ball out of defence and played it down the line for Joe, who gave it inside to Charlie, who exchanged passes with Robbie and then layed a well weighted pass onto Arberi who finished neatly into the bottom right hand corner to round off a lovely flowing move and give Chigwell a deserved lead. County pushed to get back in the game with a couple of half chances which George dealt with comfortably to allow the boys to go in with a 1-0 lead.
The second half began with both teams playing some nice football, the game flowed end to end with both defences coping well. After another good move down the right Arberi had a good effort on goal which just went wide. From the goal kick the County keeper kicked the ball straight to Myles who had his first shot saved but made no mistake with his second attempt to give Chigwell a deserved 2- 0 lead.
County came back strongly, a ball from midfield found County's Man of the Match Alex who went on a great run taking two players on, he cut inside and scored a really good well deserved goal to get them back in the game. The goal inspired County and they continued to press, but Chigwell responded really well, playing some good football through midfield and were rewarded when Lee played it out from defence to Myles in midfield who in turn fed Arberi who held off the defender to chip the ball over the oncoming County keeper to give Chigwell a 3-1 lead. Chigwell now had their tails up and in the final move of the game the ball was played from the right wing to Arberi just outside the area, he held the ball up well before laying the ball square to Joe who deservedly got on to the scoresheet with a good shot into the top right hand corner with what was to be the final kick off the match
TEAM; George, Vinnie, Jordan, Lee, Ryan, Joe, Myles(Capt), Morad, Charlie, Arberi, Max, Tom, Robbie
GOALSCORERS; Arberi 2, Joe, Myles
MAN OF THE MATCH; Another all round team performance Positives; George once again covering comfortably for James in goal, Ryan having another solid game at left back, Robbie coming back from holiday and doing a good job taking the pressure off Arberi, Arberi for working and improving on his all round team play his performance was first class today and apologies for those not mentioned as everyone played their part.
Chigwell 0-0 Thurrock Tues 20th April 2010 league
On a bright sunny tuesday evening Chigwell entertained unbeaten league leaders Thurrock, the game started with both teams trying to dominate play, Chigwell were playing there usual passing game and were set out to frustrate the best strike partnership in the Division. In a game of not many chances the ball was played out to Joe who released Arberi who had a shot at goal which the Thurrock keeper dealt with comfortably.
The game was end to end with both teams defences holding firm. Thurrock had the next chance from the edge of the area which George gathered well. With the 1st half coming to an end, the ball was played through midfield and found Joe on the edge of the box he cheekily chipped the ball just wide of the right hand post. A good half from Chigwell who comfortably went in holding the leaders.
The second half started like the first with both midfields and defences looking strong, Chigwells defence was handling Thurrocks two good quick forwards very well limiting them both to a couple of half chances, once again Vinny was having another strong game at right back, Lee and Jordan were holding the centre of defence very well (Helped by our midfield duo Morad and Myles) and Ryan was having a really good game at left back. Chigwell broke away when Tom won a tackle on the right he played it inside where Morad tryed a long range shot but it went wide.
Thurrock had a great chance near the end when the centre forward broke free, reserve keeper George came out strong and saved with his stomach! Well done Smithy!
He also managed to get to a shot from the edge of the area which George saved well with his leg to stop it going inside the left hand post, as the game drew to a close, both teams had a chance to win the game but both defences held firm to give Chigwell a well deserved draw and become the first team this season to keep a clean sheet against the League champions.
Credit must go to all the boys who played a disciplined and intelligent game, they carried out the game plan precisely and all put in a decent shift. George had a good game covering for goalkeeper James who was stuck abroad due to the volcanic ash in Iceland! The defence played very well handling two of the best forwards in the division, helped by all the Chigwell midfield. Joe had his best defensive game yet and held the midfield well when Myles was forced off, it must be said Arberi's performance up front was probably his best game to date, He's beginning to show what a true team player he has become.
TEAM; George (Smithy), Ryan, Jordan, Lee, Vinnie, Joe, Myles (Capt), Morad, Charlie, Arberi, Max, Tom

MAN OF THE MATCH; All twelve a real team performance
Chigwell 5-0 Dagenham A Sun 11th April 2010 league
The match started in the spring sunshine and Chigwell started brightly, passing the ball well and making the most of their numerical advantage..
All the players were looking comfortable on the ball as the boys dominated the early exchanges, they went close on a couple of occasions before opening the scoring on 12 minutes. The ball broke to Arberi in the box on the right of the area, he brought the ball in, swivelled and smacked a shot across goal into the left hand corner to give Chigwell a deserved 1- 0 lead. Dagenham were defending well, Morad was unlucky from a good passing move all the way from defence to midfield, Max sprayed a lovely ball out wide for Morad to bomb down the line and take a shot that hit the top of the crossbar! It wasnt long after that when Chigwell took a 2-0 lead once again it was Arberi who picked the ball up in the box and made no mistake hitting the back of the net, shortly after Chigwell were awarded a penalty after Max's run was brought to an end, up stepped Arberi to try and complete his hat trick he hit it to the bottom left only for the Dagenham keeper to make a great save.(It must be said at this point Dagenham only had seven players on the pitch!) A good run down the right by Charlie won a corner, George took a short corner exchanging passes with Myles and smashed a shot into the top left hand corner to make it 3-0 the ref blew for half time to close a good half for Chigwell.
The start of the second half and all TEN men of Dagenham came out determined to try and get back into the game, (Dagenham manager Glen's team talk was inspirational!) It was midway through the second half before Chigwell managed to break down Dagenhams new found resillience, Morad, Myles and Max exchanged passes the ball went out to Charlie on the right who was brought down in the area for another penalty. George stepped up but totally miss hit it! Again Dagenhams keeper saved a Chigwell penalty. (We will have to practice them more in training boys). Arberi for the second time in as many minutes worked his way into the penalty area and unselfishly passed across the face of the goal this time Charlie connected far post to score a thoroughly deserved goal 4-0. Morad hit the bar again this time straight from a corner! The boys were looking a little too comfortable at times and were guilty of holding on to the ball a little too much but they were not to be denied a fifth, a ball played out from defence to Morad who found Max, who found Joe wide left who neatly lobbed the defender for Arberi to in turn lob the oncoming keeper to get his first of I'm sure many hat tricks. 5-0 another good team performance and five quality goals. Finally a word of support and encouragement from all at Chigwell for a Dagenham team going through a bad period at the moment,
TEAM; Jordan, Ryan, George, Lee, Vinnie, Joe, Myles (Capt), Morad, Charlie, Arberi, Max, Tom
GOALSCORERS; Arberi 3, George, Charlie
MAN OF THE MATCH; Arberi NOT for his hat trick but for his unselfish team play
Key points; Each and every boy performed well, Jordan and Ryan volunteering to cover between the sticks. Team needs to remain DISCIPLINED throughout.
Chigwell 2-1 Xcel Sun 28th March 2010 league
Chigwell started the match off confidently happy to be back on a proper pitch, They were up against formidable opposition in Xcel who were unbeaten in the league and had reached the semi final of the Doris Barker Cup before being stopped by Premier league Woodford A.
Chigwell were passing the ball well and putting pressure on the Xcel defence, Arberi had the first chance of the match running onto a through ball from midfield holding off his defender well and firing just wide of the left hand post. Xcel had the next chance forcing James to make a diving save to his right. The game was flowing end to end both teams playing some nice football but both defences looking comfortable.
Morad and Myles started to impose themselves in midfield, both in attack and defence, they stuck to their game plan well and Chigwell were rewarded with a good passing move from defence, through midfield and up to the edge of the area, the ball came back out and Morad calmly lifted the ball over the keeper from a distance of 20 yards, A sweet goal!
Xcel responded positively having a couple of chances themselves which James dealt with calmly. The 5 mins before half time gave Xcel their best spell, creating there best chance of the half playing the ball through midfield and for the first time the ball got through to the Xcel forward who ran through on goal, James came out well and made a great stop to his right before Lee cleared for a corner which Chigwell defended well.
The ref blew up to bring to an end an exciting 1st half where both teams played some really good football.
The second half began just like the first with two equally balanced teams wanting to attack. Xcel started to put on the pressure searching for the equalizer but Chigwells defence were playing well buoyed by the fact Vinnie was having his best match of the season!
The team were trying to impose themselves on Xcel and once again Morad and Myles started to get the upper hand in midfield, Myles won a tackle in his own half passed it out to Joe on the left wing (who it must be said was causing all sorts of problems on the left hand side) he passed it inside the penalty area when again the ball came out and fell kindly for Morad to score an almost identical goal! to give Chigwell a 2 0 lead.
To their credit Xcel showed real class, they never let there heads drop and carried on playing football, They got there reward after 25 mins from a good attack they had a shot on goal which was cleared to the right, an Xcel player shot, Vinnie through himself in the way, the ball striking his arm and the ref blowing to give xcel a penalty. It was to be Chigwells day though as James guessed right and made a good save. The game was now really open Chigwell were on the back foot having to defend their lead which they did till a minute from the end when Xcel were rewarded with a good goal. The boys saw the game out to just shade it over an unbeaten Xcel.
A good advert for Echo Junior league football with the game played in the right spirit, Full credit to both Managers, Coaches, Players and Parents and also it must be said the young Referee was probably the best we've seen this season.
TEAM; James, Jordan, George, Lee, Vinnie, Joe, Myles(Capt), Morad, Ryan, Arberi, Max, Tom, Robbie
GOALSCORER; Morad 2
Key points: James and Vinnie have both set themselves a new level. Ryans first game on the wing, Myles and Morad played their most disciplined game of the season
Chigwell 2-4 Redbridge Sun 14th March 2010 League
Chigwell started quickly with Myles having an early chance that went just wide. In an end to end game Redbridge started to gain the upper hand and after 10 mins the visitors opened the scoring with the defence not clearing out properly. Chigwell looked sluggish with Redbridge dominating for long periods. On 20 min Redbridge scored again making it 2-0 after another defensive mistake. The half ended with Chigwell 2-0 down after a first half lack luster display.
The second half started with the boys looking much faster and up for the fight putting Redbridge under pressure from the start. Chigwell scored to make 2-1 through Max, a great goal taking the ball around 3 men and slotting it in the net. Chigwell were having most of the possession and managed to equalise after a good pass and move from Max putting the ball through to Robbie who coolly finished into the net. Chigwell looked all set to go on and win the game until a disputed penalty decision gave Redbridge the opportunity to go 3-2 in front. After the decsion the boys seemed deflated and Redbridge went on to score again making it 4-2 with a good strike from just inside the area. Redbridge see out the game to give them a 4-2 victory.
Without wanting to make excuses the small pitch did not suit the boys style of play at all.
Positives; nice to see Andy back in the Yellow and Blue! The team coped without there keeper (school trip to China!) Robbies looking better with every game and Max's goal and assist were quality.
TEAM; Jordan, Ryan, George, Lee, Vinnie, Joe, Myles(Capt), Morad, Charlie, Arberi, Robbie, Max, Tom, Andy
GOALSCORERS; Max, Robbie
Thurrock 4-3 Chigwell Sun 7th March 2010 League
Chigwell started the game really well dominating the first 15 minutes playing there usual passing game. Thurrock opened the scoring on 20 minutes after a shot from the edge of the box sailing high over the goal keeper just under the bar. Chigwell tryed to battle back into the game before Thurrock scored just before half time another high shot from the right corner of the area sailing high into the top righthand corner giving the goalkeeper no chance making it 2 0 at half time, The boys were passing the ball really well but seemed to struggle with thurrocks direct style.
The second half began with Chigwell once again playing all the football, Myles, Morad and Max were dominating the midfield and 5 minutes into the 2nd half the boys were rewarded 2-1 with a good passing move by the boys Morad slipping the ball into the area for Robbie to square it to Arberi who held off his defender and swivelled to smash the ball into the corner of the net, Chigwell were right back in the game playing some really good football pushing Thurrock back till once again a long ball out of defence found the Thurrock forward who put the ball high under the bar to give them a 3 1 lead!
Once again the Boys battled back by playing there football, Morad got to the ball first from the Thurrock keepers goal kick and smashed it into the net to make it 2-3. Chigwell were pushing for the equaliser when another long ball found the Thurrock forward who exchanged passes to fire another high shot under the bar into the goal to make it 2-4. Chigwell refused to give up piling the pressure on, they passed the ball through midfield, the ball found its way to Max who weaved his magic and layed the ball back to Myles who placed his shot from outside of the area into the top right corner of Thurrocks net to make it 3-4, Chigwell pushed hard in the final few minutes for the draw they deserved but Thurrock held on to record a 4-3 victory.
This was a very good team performance from the boys who tryed to play football all through the game, a draw would have been a fair result but the direct style of Thurrock won the day.
TEAM; James, Jordan, George, Lee, Vinnie, Ryan, Joe, Myles(Capt), Morad, Charlie, Arberi, Robbie, Max, Tom
GOALSCORERS; Arberi, Morad, Myles
EMH 1-4 Chigwell Sun 21st Feb 2010 League
The weather wasn't quite as bad as last time we played EMH but it still rained! Full credit to all the boys who came out determined to prove last week was just one of those days! We had Lee coming off his sickbed, George nursing an injury, debutant Ryan struggling with a groin strain and Charlie turning down the opportunity to compete in an important cross country event. The team spirit amongst these boys is second to none, add this to their technical ability and knowledge of the game and we have the makings of a really good side.
Straight from the start Chigwell put EMH on the back foot and within a minute Arberi calmly finished after an assist from Myles, Arberi has added quite a bit to his game over the last few weeks, a good example being the way he used his strength to hold the ball up before Robbie neatly stroked the ball past the keeper to open his Chigwell account and double the lead. Chigwell tried to add to the 2-0 scoreline but EMH are a hard team to breakdown and the boys had to wait till after the break before increasing the scoreline.
At half time there was a timely reminder of the previous encounter with EMH and a reinforcement of tactics. before long Joe scored the goal of the game with a cheeky chip over the oncoming keeper to make it 3. Myles scored a good goal from outside the area after great work from Max 4-0. Whenever EMH managed to break through Chigwells strong midfield, the defence were in control, it was perhaps a shame they never kept a clean sheet but a goal was conceded at the death, it was just reward for EMHs refusal to give up. James who was back on song, parried a strong free kick only for an EMH forward to react quickest, Final score 4-1

Chigwell 0-7 interwood Sun 14th Feb 2010 League Cup Semi final

Tigers 1-2 Chigwell Sun 7th Feb 2010 League
Chigwell made the journey over to Harrow Lodge Park intent on revenge after three straight defeats in our previous encounters!
The boys couldn't of got off to a worse start when within the first two minutes a cheap goal was conceded from a corner (All the more frustrating considering the work spent on this in training!).
Full credit to the lads though they settled down, stuck to the game plan and proceeded to take the game to Tigers. Myles and Morad had the edge in midfield and Charlie and Joe were working tirelessly on either wing, Arberi was causing problems up front aided in turn by Tom then Robbie and when called upon the defensive unit were looking solid.
It wasn't long before Chigwell got back on level terms, the ball was won in their own penalty area and then played out and up the whole length of the pitch culminating in a fine solo run and well placed shot from just inside the box by Arberi, beating the keeper at his near post.
Second half and Tigers came out strong as expected and managed to keep Chigwell penned in their own half for the first ten minutes, It must be said though the defence were strong and keeper James had little to trouble him. The game then started to turn back in favour of the boys in WHITE! Man of the match Charlie aided by Vinnie (it must be said both boys were putting in a great performance on the right) were giving Tigers defence plenty to think about.
Goal! George won the ball, pushed up half the length of the pitch and set up Morad who struck the ball sweetly from 20 odd yards over the keeper to settle sweetly in the back of the net.
2-1 and with only one goal seperating the teams the last ten minutes could of been more comfortable but unluckily Myles's great strike hit the bar, The boys defended well as a team and the only real scare was when a Tiger forwards knee connected with a cross, the ball could of gone anywhere but luckily it sailed over the bar.
This was a disciplined performance with each and every boy playing their part against a team previously unbeaten in their nine league games to date.
TEAM; James, Vinnie, George, Lee, Jordan, Joe, Myles(Capt), Morad, Charlie, Arberi, Tom, Robbie, Samuel
GOALSCORERS; Arberi, Morad
MAN OF THE MATCH; Charlie
Interwood 2-1 Chigwell Sun 24th Jan 2010 League
Well it had to happen Chigwell actually managed to get to a game played!
What with the boys having not played competitively since the end of November, added to that a 2pm kick off it was going to be interesting to see how the team were going to respond.
The boys were positive from the start and took the game to Interwood and should consider themselves unlucky to have gone in 1-0 down. Captain Myles again dominated midfield and was at the centre of everything in spite of his injury. He was desperately unlucky when his header from Joe's free kick hit the post which would have made amends for his earlier penalty miss (It was a good save from the keeper admittedly). Joe caused all sorts of problems on the left hand side and was unlucky when his free-kick went just over the bar. Tom had a header, well held by the keeper after a great cross from debutant Robbie and Arberi kept Interwoods defence on their toes.
At the other end of the pitch James was having a great game between the sticks and the defensive quartet of Jordan, George, Lee and Vinnie were again having a solid well organised game . All the more surprising since 3 out of the 4 had got out of their sick beds for this game!
Second half and Interwood came out the stronger side but Chigwell managed to weather the storm until James doubled Interwoods lead with a great solo effort. The spirit amongst the Chigwell team is second to none. A prime example being midfield dynamo Morad, who played a more supportive role and worked unselfishly for the team, he scored a brave goal after being pushed forwards. Unfortunately the boys ran out of time and I believe an equaliser was on the cards.
Positives;
James gave a confident display
Defensively the unit worked well against a top draw front line.
Morad took to an unfamiliar role with ease
Full credit to new signing Robbie who didn't look out of place in his first competitive game
TEAM; James, Vinnie, George, Lee, Jordan, Joe, Myles(Capt), Morad, Charlie, Arberi, Tom, Max, Robbie
GOALSCORER; Morad
MAN OF THE MATCH; Unfair to single anyone out another TEAM performance.
County Park 0-1 Chigwell Sun 29th nov 2009 A Division League Cup 1st Round
The weather held off long enough for Chigwell to play their first competitive match in almost a month, First half and the boys took the game to a strong County Park who had obviously done their homework after our previous encounter in the league. County are a well organised side and from the start it looked as though one goal would be the difference between the two sides. Myles and Morad were controlling the midfield, Joe was having a great game on the left side and Charlie was working hard on the right. Arberi was keeping County's defence busy and at the other end when called upon the defence were looking really strong and James was having a great game in goal when called upon ( Would like to see a bit more organisation at the back OFF the ball though boys!).
Chigwell were unlucky not to have gone in ahead, but give the boys their due they didnt panic and second half they kept to the game plan and were duly rewarded when Jordan scored a great goal from the outside of the area after County had cleared a corner. County reacted to this setback in a positive way and the next seventeen minutes were a typical cup tie with a lot of nervous players out there. It was like watching the boys a good twelve months a go!
If it wasn't for an amazing goal line clearance from Lee ( how did he get to the ball i don't know) Chigwell could of ended up with extra time and penalties.
Positives;
Chigwell managed their first clean sheet of the season,
On the ball defensively the boys were very strong.
They have started a little run making it three wins out of three
The boys need to stay calm, FOCUSSED and organised and i'm sure they'll have a good season
TEAM; James, Vinnie, George, Lee, Jordan, Joe, Myles(Capt), Morad, Charlie, Arberi, Tom, Samuel.

MAN OF THE MATCH; Another TEAM performance.
Chigwell 5-3 EMH A Sun 1st Nov 2009 League
Another step in the right direction from the boys in yellow and blue today! A real TEAM performance played in atrocious conditions, the rain and wind tried its hardest to destroy this game but Chigwell had other ideas. Charlie blew EMH away 1st half, setting up Arberi then Myles to go 2-0 ahead within seven minutes. The only negative point was that Chigwell for all their dominance could only go in 2-0 up! (we won't mention the penalty miss, Joe).
Second half and with the wind and rain in their face's Chigwell beat the conditions as much as they beat EMH. It wasn't long before Arberi (having his best performance to date) popped up to score his second and increase the lead to make it 3-0. Max (Who is going from strength to strength) then slotted the ball nicely into the bottom right hand corner to make it 4-0. Full credit must be given to EMH who seemed to come to life at this point and started to press. They were rewarded with a goal 4-1 then Morad who wasn't going to be left off the scoresheet scored a nicely taken goal 5-1. With ten minutes remaining EMH had their best period of the game and deservedly got two late goals 5-3 to leave Chigwell hanging on uncomfortably in the final few minutes before coming out the deserved winners.
A good game played in great spirit with both sets of boys, parents, coaches and managers determined not to let the weather get the better of them. Fingers crossed for sunshine in the return fixture!
TEAM; James, Vinnie, George, Lee, Jordan, Joe, Myles (Capt), Max, Morad, Charlie, Arberi, Andy, Tom.
GOALSCORERS; Arberi 2, Max, Myles, Morad
MAN OF THE MATCH; Too hard to call. A real TEAM performance, Key points LEE and GEORGE were excellent today in the centre of defence and CHARLIE'S 1st 20 mins was sublime.
County Park 1 - 2 Chigwell Sun 25th Oct 2009 League
Chigwell took a step in the right direction as a TEAM with this performance today, The boys had trained hard over the last couple of weeks to work at the changes made and were rewarded for this disciplined display.
County won the toss and chose to take advantage of the slope first half, with the wind behind them as well it seemed as though Chigwell would be up against it, But the boys had other ideas and used the ball wisely to dominate the game. Max and Morad were controlling the midfield with Joe and Charlie causing problems on the wings. Vinnie had a great first half where he seemed to be involved in everything and on the rare occasions County threatened the new look defence looked comfortable. Myles and Arberi were causing problems up front and on another day Arberi could have come in at half time with a hat trick.
Against the run of play though Chigwell went in 1-0 down straight from a wind assisted corner after Keeper James had just pulled off a great save when the defence made their only real mistake of the game allowing Countys forward a free run on goal. Play to the whistle boys!
Second half and Chigwell were moving the ball round nicely and it seemed only a matter of time before the equaliser would come, And boy what a goal! Joe took a free kick from outside the area and the ball came straight back to him, He struck it sweetly on the volley with his right foot! and there was no doubt where the ball was going to end up (An early contender for goal of the season). 1-1. It looked as though there was only going to be one winner now but that ball needed to be put away, Arberi duly delivered when first to react after County's keeper failed to hold the ball making it three goals in three games since he's joined us. Chigwell could have increased the lead with Joe, Myles, Max and Morad all going close and sub Samuel was desperately unlucky putting the ball just the other side of the post.
County gave the boys a couple of scares late on with James getting down well to a low drive which was heading for the bottom left hand corner and they survived a late free kick but Chigwell came away with a thoroughly deserved win.
Special mention to Lee who looked so comfortable in the centre of defence with George, hard to believe that was the first time he'd really played in that position.
The difference between today and our last game two weeks ago was plain to see, here at Chigwell we are lucky to have such a great group of boys who work really hard for each other not just on match days but in training too, It's obvious there's a great team spirit within the boys and the parents too, lets keep it that way by being positive in our encouragement please.
TEAM: James, Vinnie, George, Lee, Jordan, Joe, Myles (Capt), Max, Morad, Charlie, Arberi, Andy, Samuel.
GOALSCORERS: Arberi, Joe
MAN OF THE MATCH: Close call but birthday boy LEE gets the nod for playing so well in the heart of the defence, Instilling confidence in all
Chigwell 2 - 5 Tigers Sun 11th Oct 2009 League
Chigwell came crashing back down to earth as the boys learnt a few lessons today that will stand them in good stead for the rest of the season.
Early doors and two great saves from keeper James kept Chigwell in the game until Tigers took advantage of a mistake in defence to take the lead. Soon after Arberi was desperately unlucky not to equalise when hitting the inside of the post after a great knock on from captain Myles.Tigers soon doubled their lead with a great goal. But with 5 minutes remaining before half time, Chigwell got themselves back into the game with a great goal on the turn from Arberi set up by Morad and should of gone in level but a blatant handball in Tigers penalty area wasn't spotted.
Second Half and the boys came out fired up and started to take control of the game. They were rewarded by a strong strike from outside the box by Morad to get them back on level terms. At this point Chigwell were on top and looked like they would go onto win the game. But the boys lost their composure and Tigers scored quick on the break from a goal kick while our boys were still arguing that it was a Chigwell corner! At this point the game was lost and Tigers eventually rolled out 5-2 winners. Lessons were learnt all over the field as some boys hid, some struggled to control their frustrations and some worked too hard by trying to win the game on their own and forgetting the game plan. On the positive side the boys will come out a lot stronger for the experience.
Pluses, Arberi and Morad have settled in just fine, James had a great game in goal, George dominated the defence and Max had his best game in midfield to date, earning him Man of the Match.
TEAM: James, Lee, George, Vinnie, Andy, Joe, Myles (Capt), Max, Morad, Tom, Arberi, Charlie, Jordan, Samuel.
GOALSCORERS: Arberi, Morad
MAN OF THE MATCH: Close call between James, George and Max, MAX gets it as it is arguably his best performance to date.
Byron Red Star B 2-7 Chigwell Sun 4th Oct 2009 League
Chigwell took the short trip to Byron buoyed by the fact that Arberi and Morad were to make there long awaited debuts and what a difference they made!
First half and playing down the slope Chigwells constant pressure against an under strength Byron side was quickly rewarded with an early goal when Joes corner was accidently turned in to Byrons net by one of their own defenders. Chigwell suffered a piece of misfortune when calmly playing out of defence the ball took an unlucky deflection allowing Byron to slip through and equalise. The lead was quickly restored when captain Myles scored a peach of a goal, calmly slotting the ball into the top left hand corner from just outside the box. Man of the match Morad was dominating the midfield and his storming box to box run enabled Arberi to calmly score on his debut. Just before half time Morad got himself on the score sheet on his own debut with a screamer, so Chigwell could go in at the break 4-1 up.
Second half and Byron came out fired up and were rewarded with a goal 4-2. After a quick re-shuffle Chigwell regained control of the game. Arberi setting up Eren to make it 5-2. Joe capitalised on the keeper spilling a speculative shot to tap in calmly 6-2, before Eren rounded it off by poking home the seventh from inside the six yard box.
TEAM: James, Lee, Andy, George, Vinnie, Joe, Myles (Capt), Morad, Charlie, Eren, Arberi, Jordan, Max and Samuel.

Chigwell 1-2 Tigers Sun 27th Sept 2009 Doris Barker Cup
Chigwell went out in the 1st round of the Doris Barker Cup in a closely fought game against rivals Tigers.
The boys got off to a great start when Charlie got off the mark after some fine team play by Eren and Myles. Unfortunately the lead didnt last too long when some poor concentration in defence gifted Tigers an equaliser.
Second half and the game ebbed and flowed as two evenly matched teams woked tirelessly to take the lead. Unfortunately it was to be Tigers who scored what proved to be the decisive Goal in this tie, capitalising on some indecisiveness in defence. The boys worked hard to get an equaliser and Myles was desperately unlucky when his shot hit the underside of the bar only to drop on the line before being cleared (Oh for a Russian linesman!).
Full credit to the Boys, parents and management of Tigers and all the best in the next round.
Even though the boys were bitterly disappointed to go out so early in this competition there was plenty of positives to come out of this game and we still have to play Tigers home and away in the league!

Chigwell 4-4 Interwood Sun 20th Sept 2009 League
Chigwell put in a real team performance which typified the great spirit and desire within the team to earn a draw against Interwood.
1st half and Chigwell went behind when George's tackle inadvertently found the back of the net! Eren then earn't a penalty that Joe put away confidently before a lapse in concentration allowed Interwood to go in 2-1 up.
2nd half and Chigwell started off strongly looking for the equaliser before another lapse in concentration! 1-3. Andy was working tirelessly down the right hand side and he set up Max beautifully to make it 2-3. Just as it was looking like the boys were getting back in the game they were caught out by a fine passing move from Interwood 2-4.
Perhaps Interwood were guilty of thinking with 10 minutes to go that the game was over, but Chigwell gambled and were rewarded when "Captain Marvel" Myles picked his spot perfectly from outside the box putting the ball in the top right hand corner giving the keeper no chance 3-4. Then perhaps fittingly Eren (who wasn't exactly feeling in top form today but wanted to play and not let his team mates down) scored a trademark goal to earn a draw 4-4!
All the boys worked extremely hard to earn this draw against a quality Interwood side and it would be unfair to single anyone out.

Boca 5-3 Chigwell Boys Sun 13th Sept 2009 league
The boys couldnt have got to a better start in their 1st competitive game in the A division.
Two nil up after 8 minutes and playing some nice football it looked like it was going to be Chigwells Day until Boca upped the ante to deservedly go in 3-2 ahead,
Second half and the boys battled hard to gain a well deserved equaliser through Chigwells man of the match Joe, only to throw it away with a couple of sloppy mistakes.
