Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct for Players

1. Players will have a good attitude at training and matches.
2. Players will arrive for training and matches on time.
3. Players will show good sportsmanship and respect at all times.
4. Players will shake hands with opponents after each game.
5. No jewellery is to be worn by players during training or matches.
6. Players will always arrive wearing the correct kit.
7. Club kit is only to be worn for matches.
8. Players must wear shin pads during training and matches.
9. No eating or chewing gum during training or matches.
10. No swearing or fighting on or off the field.
11. No abuse or racial remarks shall be made towards any player, official or supporter.
12. Respect the wishes of your Manager and Coach.
13. Inform the Manager or Coach when you have an injury.


Code of Conduct for Parents and Supporters


1. Ensure that your child arrives on time and is collected on time.
2. Display good sportsmanship at all times.
3. Stand well back when watching matches and behind the line.
4. Do not put pressure on your child especially in matches.
5. Only discuss your concerns about training or matches with the Team Manager in private.
6. Always encourage your child, never be negative.
7. Inform the Manager if there has been a change in your child, i.e. medical condition.
8. Do not swear at any player, official or supporter.
9. No abuse or racial remarks are to be made towards any player, official or supporter.
10. Do not drink alcohol during training sessions or matches.
11. Ensure that suitable clothing and footwear is worn by your child.
12. Pay your training subs and annual fees on time.


Code of Conduct for Manager and Coaches


1. Always respect your players.
2. Always arrive on time.
3. Always have the correct equipment.
4. Always have a first aid kit.
5. Be available to attend all appropriate training courses.
6. Show no favouritism towards players.
7. Display good sportsmanship at all times.
8. Always be honest with players, parents and guardians.
9. Do not smoke or drink alcohol while in charge of players.
10. Be responsible for the behaviour of players, parents and supporters, during training sessions and matches.



CHILD PROTECTION POLICY


Definition of a child: A child is an individual who is 18 years and under.

Definition of Abuse: Generally child abuse can be defined in the following way, emotional and/or sexual abuse, severe neglect and physical injury.

Contact person: When abuse is suspected, observed or notified, an individual must in the first instant inform the Chigwell Boys Football Club Child Protection Officer.


The Child Protection Officer (C.P.O.) in consultation with the Centre of Excellence Director will decide on whether or not to involve social services.

Indication that a Child may have been abused

1. A physical injury e.g. bruises, scratches, teeth marks, and burns especially if the child cannot adequately explain justifiable reasons for such injuries.
2. Lack of motivation, interest and general decline in enthusiasm.
3. When a child observed developing a tendency towards isolationism and introversion.
4. When another adult informs the coach or another member of staff that a child has been mistreated.
5. When a child informs you of ill treatment to him/her or close peers.


Suggested course of action when confronted with a possible child abuse situation

1. Always treat the matter seriously and inform the C.P.O.
2. React to the child with belief to what he/she tells you.
3. Reassure the child.
4. Tell only those who need to know e.g. The Child Protection Officer.
5. Monitor the child carefully and keep an accurate record of what you have noticed and what you have done. Include dates and times.

ALWAYS AVOID THE FOLLOWING

1. Promising to keep the matter secret.
2. Contacting parents.
3. Do not interrogate children (it is not your job to investigate the matter).
4. Do not speak to anyone about whom allegations are made, even if the allegations are about a colleague.

All members of staff at Chigwell Boys Football Club must also be aware that they may be prone to allegations of child abuse.

CHILD PROTECTION POLICY (CONTINUED)


In light of this never engage or be party to the following:

• Striking a child directly or with physical object.
• Shaking, shoving, spanking and other form of aggressive physical contact.
• Punishment from a child by another child or group of children, condoned by or at the instigation of staff.
• Requiring or forcing a child to take an uncomfortable position such as squatting, bending or standing against the wall.
• Requiring or forcing a child to repeat physical movement unless as part of their behaviour programme and therefore not punitive.
• Harsh, humiliating, belittling or degrading responses of any form including verbal, emotional or physical.
• Deprivation of what the child is entitled to, or what is necessary for proper development care or treatment, including but not limited to food and shelter.
• Extensive withholding of emotional or structural response.
• Placing or keeping a child in a locked room.
• Requiring the child to remain silent for long periods of time.
• Mechanical or excessive physical restraint.
• Assignment of unduly physical, strenuous or harsh work.
• Try to avoid being alone in a vehicle with a child.
