Chigwell Boys B 0 - Royals Falcons 4 14th Nov League
A much improved performance this week saw Chigwell match Falcons all the way in the 1st half. The pre match team talk centred around starting positively and not giving away early goals. This seemed to work as the boys looked a different team to that of the previous week. They looked sharper and more confident. They were cruelly denied a 1st half clean sheet when we conceded with the last kick off the half. 0-1 HT.
Our better performances have generally been in the 2nd half of matches, and with us playing so well in the 1st half, big things were expected. Alas this wasn’t the case, the rain continued to drop and so did our confidence. The passes were going straight to the opposition and there was little movement off the ball. Falcons sprung the attack and their strikers who appeared to be at least 10 yards off side as poked home a rebounded shot off the keeper. The linesman flagged but was overruled by the ref, something to do with the 2nd phase ………………... the inevitable then happened, as 2 quickly became 4 before the ref called time.
The game itself wasn’t as one sided as the score line suggests. The boys played well for 50 minutes but just fell away towards the end. The spirit in the camp is improving week on week as we focus on performances rather than score lines. Well done.

Chigwell Boys B 1- 4 Colebrook Royals A 7th Nov League Cup
This weekend gave us an opportunity to put the league results behind us and concentrate on the league cup. We played hosts to Colebrook, who we had already lost 4-1 to on the opening day.
This result was exactly the same, and like the first game we gave away 3 early goals to make the 2nd half an uphill task. HT 0-3
The 2nd half did produce a better display from our boys and Lewis scored a nice consolation goal, meaning the 2nd half finished 1-1.
We never really got going today and after giving the opposition a 3 goal head start, never looked like getting anything today. We face Colebrook again in a couple of week and we must try harder an all areas.

Aztec 6 – 2 Chigwell Boys B 31st Oct 2010 League
A crazy 10 minute spell towards the end of the first half put pay to any hope of us getting anything from this game. We conceded four goals, two of which were borderline offside and also went down to ten men; despite this we played some good football. Rob Platt finished off a nice move, which cancelled out Aztec’s opener. HT 4-1
The 2nd half looked like it was going to be damage limitation. But we managed to regain our discipline and composure and despite playing with just 10 boys, played better than when we had 11. The 2nd half score was 1-2. Connor Gol sent a free kick into the top corner in the dying minutes. FT 6-2.
We lost our focus and discipline in the 1st half, which allowed our opponents to take advantage.
However I was pleased with the 2nd half response, particularly Max and Taylor’s work rate.

CHIGWELL 3 - 3 ASCOT UTD 24th Oct League
Chigwell played host to fellow new boys Ascot united. Ascot started brightly and soon opened the scoring 1-0. We continued to push for the equaliser and were rewarded just before half time, as the in form Michel added to his tally for the season.
Ht 1-1
The second half started similar to the first, with Ascot testing out the Chigwell back line. And after some long balls over the top they sprung the offside trap, not once but twice, to score two goals in quick succession. Staring another defeat in the face, the pack was re shuffled. The impact was immediate as Michel yet again found the net. The momentum was firmly in our favour, as Ascot were desperate to hold onto their lead. Michael Ward, who hard been largely quiet up until now, pulled off an amazing goal, flicking the ball over the defender, running around the back before coolly lobbing the keeper. Cue wild celebrations from the touch lines. The ref called time shortly after, on what was an entertaining game between two well matched teams,
Our back four lacked concentration today and as such failed to keep a high line. This lead to us conceding needless goals today, hopefully we can learn from this and make the opposition work harder for their goals.

CHIGWELL 0 - 6 LOASS 17th Oct League
After last week’s performance, I was expecting another close contest today. Loass had other ideas and from the start looked more enthusiastic than us. This quickly paid off as they cut us apart to open the scoring. One goal soon lead to three, and like last week, we had to score three goals just to draw level. But unlike last week, where the boys rolled up their sleeves and got themselves back into the match, they just watched our visitors walk straight through us. Ryan’s brilliant one handed diving penalty save couldn’t even raise the spirits, as the resulting corner was headed in unchallenged.
HT 0-4
The boys were told in no uncertain terms that the 1st half performance was unacceptable. The 2nd half was marginally better, but we still looked like spectators as we failed to match our opponents energy and movement, and as such they added 2 more goals to make the final score 0 – 6!
I except that Loass were technically better than us today, but we should of matched them for work rate and desire from the start.
If it wasn’t for Ryan’s String of fine saves, this could have easily been double figures today. This was the easiest man of the match that I have had to pick. Well done.
Let’s put this one behind us lads and move on.

CHIGWELL 4 - 6 BUCKHURST HILL 10th Oct League
This game was probably one of the best I’ve seen our boys play in. We started brightly and found ourselves a goal up within 2 minutes courtesy of Michael’s low shot across the keeper. The lead was short lived, as Buckhurst Hill levelled. A couple of defensive errors and our visitors found themselves 3-1 up. Their 4th was a fantastic strike from outside the area to make the score 1-4. Michel pulled the score back just before the break. HT 2-4.
Chigwell came out the brighter of the two teams, and looked a threat up front, with Michel and Michael causing problems for their back line. Michel’s constant pressure paid off as he nipped in to score our third and his second. At this point the momentum was with us, until we failed to deal with a corner and allowed Buckhurst Hill to restore their two goal lead. Undeterred Chigwell drove forward again. Michael beautifully flicked the ball around their right back to set Michel on his way. Michel finished coolly past the keeper to score his hat-trick and set up a nail biting last 5 minutes.
Buckhurst Hill’s big striker, who was also looking for his hat-trick, wasn’t about to be upstaged, and scored a beauty from a full 25 yards to seal the points.
FT 4-6.
Despite not getting any points, we did get a lot out of the performance today. If we can play like this every week, it will only be a matter of time before we pick up some points.
Michel today provided some much needed fire power up front and Carl’s game is improving week on week and was well deserving of the man of the match .

CHIGWELL 0 - 8 SENRAB b 26th Sep League
What can I say. We didn't play bad today, in fact the first 35 mins, albeit played mostly in our half, was quite encouraging. Despite this we went into the break 0-2.
Although we were behind ,we weren't down, but 2 quickly became 3 and so on.
It is hard to think of the positives today, but sometimes you have to put your hands up and take the defeat. No one was to blame today, we were simply beaten, by a very good team.
Ross was excellent in the holding role today. Taylor and Max supressed the danger for long periods. Ben/Ryan you had no chance with any of the goals today , including both Pens, Chin(s) up..
Michel edged the MoM today through his enthusiasm to win the ball, though not in his own penalty area ("don't dive in" ooh too late!!)

UPR A 3 - 0 CHIGWELL 19th Sep County Cup
Undaunted by last week's result, Chigwell looked to put premiership hosts UPR to the sword. Unfortunately we didn't match last weeks performance, and through a catalogue of individual errors, found ourselves 2 nil down going into the break.
UPR added a third halfway through the 2nd half. Although we never looked out of it, we didn't trouble their keeper often enough to deserve to get anything from the game. Having said that, UPR should consider there selves fortunate that the Chigwell defence offered up all three goals on a plate.Their striker did return the compliment in the 20th minute however, by screwing his spot kick wide of the post.
Michael was the only bright spot in what was a lack lustre performance all round.

Chigwell 1 v 4 Colebrook Royals 12th Sep League
The scoreline somewhat flattered our vistor's today. Chigwell must take heart in their 2nd half performance. We started on the back foot, which meant we went to the break 0-3.
Full credit to the team, they came out positive in the 2nd half. They created chance after chance, and on another day could have drawn themselves level.
Michael pulled one back to make it 1-3, but we just couldn't make the most of our posession, and with Colebrook scoring late, meant we finished the wrong side of a 4-1 defeat.
I was pleased with Taylor's 1st game for us. He battled hard in defence and distributed the ball well in our attacking phases. Reece played as good as I have seen him, and was well worth the MoM trophy.
For me this season will be more about performances than results. Today, our performance far outweighed the result, which to me was a result, if that makes sense!!...Answers on a postcard.....
