Chigwell 3 – 1 Aztec     Sunday 13th April   2008

Inspired at either end of the pitch by joint Man of the Match, Andy Martin and George Sewell, Chigwell continued their run of form making it 6 wins out of 8 since the start of the New Year.

Chigwell goalkeeping crisis was temporarily solved with George volunteering to take the gloves, this was a boost and with Andy’s determination to prove a point the boys looked a different side to the team that lost 3-1 to Dagenham United the previous week.

First half saw both teams passing the ball around well with Chigwell enjoying the greater possession but lacking that killer instinct in front of goal.

2nd half saw Chigwell coming out more determined and were rewarded through Charlie’s work rate, down the right wing,he put a lovely through ball for Andy to calmly slot home one nil. Unfortunately the lead only lasted just 5 minutes with Aztec equalising quite spectacularly direct from a corner.Chigwell’s response was spot on, all credit to the boys as they determinately went for the win.
A strong goal kick, headed in by Myles, left Andy to nod the ball bravely past the oncoming keeper. Aztec quick on the break and passing well caused a few scares before Myles secured the points with a fierce shot from a tight angle.

Final score 3 -1 and the boys secured 4th place, a performance made all the more satisfactory by the fact it was achieved by the original team. Well done lads but keep in mind what we could of achieved if the 1st half of the season mirrored the second.

Chigwell 1 – 3 Dagenham United      Sunday March 30th  2008

Finding out Chigwell had lost their goalkeeper Archie wasn’t ideal preparation and with Charlie on holiday, no-one was willing to replace him until Tom bravely stepped in. The boys were up against a very strong Dagenham who were aware that a win would guarantee them 2nd spot and promotion (Chigwell were only 3 points behind).

1st half – Chigwell were on the back foot from the start, with the defence intent on protecting Tom they managed to restrict the opposition to just three chances in the 1st half, unfortunately this resulted in 2 goals. Constant thorn in Chigwell’s side Morgan Seaman setting up both.

At 2-0 down the boys got themselves back into the game when Finley nipped in to score after the keeper spilled one of George’s crosses. But it wasn’t to be as just minutes later Morgan scored an unstoppable header direct from a corner.

Perhaps with a little luck Chigwell could have earned a draw, but losing Archie was too big a blow to overcome against such a strong side. All boys gave 100% and a special mention to Tom who had the courage to go in goal.

Aztec 0 - 1 Chigwell Boys   Sunday 24th February 2008

Chigwell continued their fine run of form since the new year making it 5 wins out of 6 (only dropping points to runaway leaders Eurodag, when they were unlucky to lose 1 - 0)

On sunday playing on a great pitch against one of the strongest sides in the league the boys gave a great team performance to come away with all 3 points.

Against Aztec it was a tight affair with both teams being well organised and it was a game of few chances
of which Chigwell had the greater.

1st half - Myles Judd (C) and Andy Martin were a constant threat up front with George Sewell and Kieran Hilson linking attack and defence efficently. It was from one of Kieran's great passes that produced the best chance of the first half. Myles was set free one on one with the keeper untill the covering defender did just enough to force the shot over the bar.

2nd half - Charlie Bell came on for Tom Collister and James Manning replaced Kieran. Almost immediately Charlie's pace down the right hand side had an effect only for the shot to go wide.
George tested the keeper on a couple of occasions with long range efforts and at the other end Bobby Pearce made sure keeper Archie Hewitt had little to do. With 10 minutes remaining birthday boy
Myles won himself a free kick twenty yards out on the left wing and needed no invitation to pick himself
up, brush himself down and plant the ball firmly into the top right hand corner. 1-0 and thats how the
match finished.

All in all it was a solid team performance against a strong team with each and every boy playing their part
and most importantly PLAYING AS A TEAM . Well done!

Chigwell 2-1 Bardag      Sunday 17th February 2008

Chigwell seemed a little hungover 1st half! Although they were enjoying the majority of possession they found Bardag resolute in defence and their keeper in fine form. Andy, Charlie, Myles and James all had good opportunities and on the rare occasions our defence was tested they looked comfortable.
Highlight of the half was James speculative long range effort which almost broke the crossbar!

2nd half both teams came out looking for the win which led to a more balanced game. Bardag took the lead resulting in our boys stepping up a gear or two. The equaliser came courtesy of a nice pass from Tom leaving Myles to calmly slot the ball home. Direct from the kick off it was obvious to see Chigwell were not content to settle for a draw and constant pressure was rewarded with Andys match winner fom an acute angle. Special mention to man of the match Bobby (C) who quietly gets on with his game.

Chigwell 2-1 Harold Hill    Sunday 10th February 2008

Chigwell started off brightly and got their reward early through a spectacular Beckham style free kick from man of the match Myles Judd. Chigwell continued strongly with George , Bobby (captain) and James keeping a strong defence and Andy, Myles and Charlie pressing the opposition at every opportunity. Just before half time Myles struck again, heading home from a nicely delivered corner from George.

2nd half. Tom came on and showed us how much his passing has improved, well done Tom. Harold Hill came out strongly and were always a danger. Goalkeeper Archie looking back to his best, made a couple of fine saves but could do nothing to prevent Harold Hill getting the goal they deserved. This led to a nervy final few minutes but Chigwell held on to the win against arguably the best passing side in this division

Euro-Dag 1 - 0 Chigwell   Sunday 3rd February 2008

The Boys can consider themselves desperately unlucky from their visit to high flying Eurodag.
With the elements on their side in the first half (With the wind behind them and playing down hill)
the Boys took the game to the opposition albeit aware of the speed and strength of Eurodags play.
It only took one lapse of concentration for the opposition to score what was to be the decisive goal.
Proving at this level how tight it can be!

In the second half playing against the elements the boys came out looking for an equaliser with each and every lad giving 100% Myles especially was a constant thorn in their side. On two occasions we thought we had done enough to get back in the game. Myles unselfishly passing to Finn only for his shot to go
wide. Late on Myles was one on one with the keeper he managed to poke to ball past only to see it creep agonisingly wide at the post. With seconds to go with the boys pushing forwards in search of the equaliser Eurodag broke free and keeper Archie done enough coming out strong forcing the player to shot wide. Unlucky boys we couldn't have asked for more and no one could be singled out so you are all deservedly Men of the Match

MOM:The whole team.
Team:Archie, George, Bobby(C),James, Andy, Myles, Finn, Kieran, Charlie.

 Bealonians 3 - 4 Chigwell         Sunday 27th January 2008

JUDD GOES THE EXTRA MYLES FOR CHIGWELL!

Chigwell ground out a narrow victory against a Bealonians side who looked anything but a team languishing at the bottom of the table.

Captain Bobby fired home from a neat George corner, Beals then equalised before Man of the Match Andy restored the lead 2-1 half time. George was forced to retire at half time and unluckily Kieran
had injured his ankle and was unable to cover. This forced a re-shuffle.

In the 2nd half Bealonians inspired by their new signings and newly found confidence were 3-2 up
with only 8 minutes remaining. The atmosphere from the touch line was like a cup final with Bealonians anticipating their first taste of success. This only inspired our boys in particular Myles who decided to take the game by the scruff of the neck, first equalising and then saving the day by scoring the winning goal. This game is a warning to all boys not to take the opposition lightly!

Chigwell 4-1 Woodford C     Sunday 20th January 2008

First game back after the festive break and the boys were up for it, 1st half anyway!
After constant pressure new boy finn nodded home from one of georges great corners, minutes later George was provider again this time for Myles, sending him one on one with the keeper with a well practised throw. Just before half time it was man of the match Georges turn to get on the scoresheet, Chigwell won a free kick on the half way line and up stepped George to crack it straight into the top left hand corner! half time 3-0.
The second half was a bit flat plenty of possession but Woodford resolute in defence, until Myles went on one of his solo runs, taking three players on before scoring a well deserved goal, Woodford scored a somewhat fortunate consolation goal but all credit to Charlie for coming off his sick bed to cover for goalkeeper Archie.
