Chigwell Girls Team 2009-2010 reports

Sunday 25th April 10  - League  Chigwell 8  - Brentwood 2

Well what a pleasure it is writing this my last report for the season with a 8-2 victory.

On a beautiful spring day with this being our last league game it was disappointing to see the girls go one nil down after about ten mins, however not giving up at all, the girls dug deep and roared right back into the game with Jen Randall putting us back on level peggings.  With some good football/passing developing it was a matter of time before we took the lead with a Holly Higgins goal and we went in 2-1 up on the half time whistle.

Half Time  Chigwell 2 - Brentwood 1

We had said to the girls at half time lets enjoy and if possible have a goal fest and so they did just that!

The goals were coming thick and fast and Harley not to be outdone extended the lead to 3-1, with Jen following quickly behind her with another. With the team knocking the ball around well Meg scored a blinder to make it five, Jen another that took us to six, Olivia virtually scoring from a corner which the ref did actually award to her made it seven and then Jen heading a goal making it eight! Brentwood did pull another consolation goal back though and ten out of ten to their girls they did keep trying.

In the second half they looked liked the Chigwell Girls we had seen in the past and gave us much food for thought with their passing of what is and what they can become.

Make no mistake this was a great team effort from all and everyone not only the scorers but Emma, Hannah, Eleanor, Neamh, Charlotte and Atalia all played their roles in this game and this was duly noted.

Final Score   Chigwell 8 - Brentwood 2

Team - Bayley, Stickland, Webb, Beechey, Carey, McAuliffe, Long, Randall, Higgins, Brown  + Del Rio.

Joint Men of the Match: Olivia Carey + Jennifer Randall

Special Mentions:   Well done girls, you should be very proud coming 3rd in the league in this your very first season. Losing only 3 games all season, can honestly say 2 of them were so close and could've easily have gone your way. We are very proud of you all and look forward to the next season where hopefully we can improve on our final place.

Thanks ever so much to all the parents and families for their support in every game and also to Rob  (MT WATSON) for being there for us through thick and thin.

Thank you also to Chigwell Boys who welcomed us to their club so much and have helped myself and Barry no end which is so appreciated as this obviously has been a learning curve for us. (Greg, Anne, Steve Platt, Richard, Mark + Steve Legon)

THANKS EVERYONE, KEEP TRAINING GIRLS, ONWARD AND UPWARDS

WELL DONE THE VERY FIRST CHIGWELL GIRLS TEAM  - SEASON 09/10

           Sunday 18th April 10  - Friendly  Chigwell 1 - Hutton 2

This was always going to be the moste interesting match of the season as we have been so close to Hutton in the points stakes and have both been pushing for that runners up spot.

Game didn't go as well as we would've liked in the first half and probably the only real two breaks that Hutton had were converted well into a 2-0 nil lead at half time. Felt the girls in Midfield once again were working hard and putting in some defensive work too.

Half Time   Chigwell 0 - Hutton 2

After a talking to and a few changes, the girls swiftly turned the game around and were unlucky when a well taken penalty by Jen Randall was denied by an excellent save by the Hutton keeper but they still kept fighting on.

With an excellent free kick by Olivia Carey which was once again denied but followed up by Jen Randall then girls were back in the game at 2-1.

The pushing/attacking play was relentless in the second half from Chigwell with only one real break from Hutton which Emma Bayley threw herself at to stop them going 3-1 up, but the game was to finish on 2-1 to Hutton which has now stopped up from that runners up position.

Final Score  Chigwell 1 - Hutton 2

Team - Bayley, Butler, Harris, Stickland, Beechey, Carey, Long, Randall, Higgins, Brown, Del Rio, Webb.

Joint Men of the Match: Olivia Carey + Jennifer Randall - Well Done You Two

Special Mentions:  Would like to say once again that felt much work coming from our midfield players and was also pleased with Neamh Stickland and Hannah Beechey who feel are working hard in their training and it's showing dividends.

Emma for all your support that you show your team-mates.

Girls, last match of the season on Sunday,

let's do our best to finish this on a high !

Springfield 2 - Chigwell 1                            Sunday 11th April - Friendly
With the Easter lay off and two important matches fast approaching, it was good to play a friendly especially against a team that is in the league above us at the moment.

I think anyone who was watching would agree that the Chigwell Girls more than held their own in this game and in my estimation they had at least 70% of the play.

The chances that were created by our girls were too many to mention and when we conceeded a penalty by a very unlucky bounce of the ball which hit Eleanor Webb's arm who was outstanding in this match it was totally against the run of play.

1st Third  Springfield 1 - Chigwell 0

The girls came out all guns blazing in the 2nd quarter but unbelievably once again against the run of play a second goal was conceeded!  However the girls did not let their heads drop once and were just relentless with their chances and thankfully Jen Randall pulled the game back to 2-1.  Now they had drew blood, the football started to flow and pressure continued.

2nd Third  Springfield 2 - Chigwell 1

In the last third we actually were given a penalty which was then denied after the ball was actually put on the spot (A first for us all!) As this was just a friendly there was not too much protesting because the girls honstly believed they were doing enough to get their rewards anyway, but on the final whistle the final score was 2-1 to Springfield after the girls had literally worked their socks off especially as the line up played the full 3 x 20 mins with no subs being available today.

Final Score  Springfield 2 - Chigwell 1

Team - Bayley, Stickland, Webb (Captain), Beechey, Carey, McAuliffe, Randall, Higgins + Del Rio.

Joint Men of the Match: Eleanor Webb + Meg McAuliffe

Special Mentions:   Well done everyone for working so hard today and never giving up once against a team who is above us but you would've have definately thought it was the other way around on the day. However special mention to Eleanor Webb who definately found her form today and was a star and also to Meg + Olivia for so much running, passing and work coming from midfield.

Therefore girls let's give a Hutton a good game next Sunday and show the spirit and determination we showed today.

                  Clacton 5 - Chigwell 1 Sunday 28th March 10  - League

Well we all knew this top of the table clash was going to be a hard game and it certainly lived upto expectations, obviously the girls were looking to avenge their only defeat in the league this season.

Make no bones about it, Clacton are a very strong team and well deserved winners of the league this season, but the girls did not seem fazed by it at all.

Clacton drew first blood and went one nil up within the first ten minutes, but a strong run was made by Jennifer Randall and Clacton conceded a penalty which Jen took advantage of, thus putting us back on level peggings. The girls all over the field were giving as good as they got,  but unfortunately Clacton took advantage and put themselves in front.

Have to say the girls in midfield were outstanding and gave it all they could, however we went in 2-1 down and also minus Lena Shepherd in defence.

Half Time Clacton 2 - Chigwell 1

Coming out in the second half the girls had so much fighting spirit and there were at least 2 excellent chances from Holly which hit the post and could've nudged us in front,  but as said earlier an undefeated Clacton converted their chances and eventually put themselves as 5-1 winners.  In all honesty don't think the scoreline represents how the girls played at all, and losers or not they put in a very brave performance which hopefully will see them as runners up at the end of this their very 1st season.

Full Time  Clacton 5 - Chigwell 1

Team - Bayley, Shepherd, Harris, Carey, McAuliffe, Long (Captain), Webb, Randall,  Higgins, Butler + Beechey.

Man of the Match: Georgia Harris  - Well Done Georgia

Special Mention:   As said above girls, thought you all gave all you could on the day and was a tad unlucky to have 5-1 as the final scoreline, as this does not represent your performance. Once again very hard to single out anyone but did think that both Olivia and Meg in Midfield worked their socks off and Harley-Jo was fearless up against girls much bigger, stronger and older than her.  Holly hard luck on not getting on the scoresheet today.

Thanks to Neamh and Atalia for their extra special support today.

Girls I'm sure if you play like this in your remaining two games, you will do well.
Ten out of Ten today and believe once again a good learning curve which you will only benefit from.

Chigwell 7 - Snaresbrook 3                 Sunday 21st March 10  - Friendly

On a beautiful spring day at our home ground, the girls were up against Snaresbrook in a much needed friendly game.

They started well and within 10 mins of the game we were up one nil thanks to Jennifer Randall who was making her debut and wearing the yellow and blue for the first time. With Jen settling in nicely and working well with Olivia Carey and Harley-Jo Long this was quickly converted to two nil.

The girls were looking like their oldselves and there was great attacking play with Meg McAulliffe working her socks off too in the centre of midfield.
Passing from all the girls was greatly improved from our last two matches and this was very pleasing on the eye.

With half time fast approaching and a great shot on goal flying in from Olivia Carey, the girls went in on the whilstle at three nil up.

A few changes were made at half time and the girls that came out in the second half truly put their stamp on the game and the goal!

Shots were flying thick and fast with Eleanor Webb just shooting wide and was great to see Hannah Beechey get her first goal of the season and she also ran her little legs off throughout the whole of the second half.

Snaresbrook started to claw their way back into the game and before we knew it they had pulled back 3 goals and we were all thinking here we go again after our 4-4 all draw with them back in September last year.  However there was so much attacking play coming from Chigwell it was a matter of time before our Holly Higgins put the goal into the back of the net to make it
5-3. Now we all know Holly likes her name on the scoresheet and she went on to do it twice again thus getting her hat-trick.

With that Snaresbrook were now resigned to defeat after the initial fightback and the Chigwell babes were smiling again on the full time whistle.

Full Time  Chigwell 7 - Snarebrook 3

Team - Bayley, Shepherd (Captain), Stickland, Harris, Brown, Carey, McAuliffe, Long, Randall, Beechey, Higgins, Webb + Del Rio.

Man of the Match: Jennifer Randall - Well Done On Your Debut and Welcome to our team.  Looking forward to watching you with our girls.

Special Mention:  Have to say, all of you today were much more with it and myself and Barry were so pleased with your performance.  It's very hard to single out anyone really as there was much improved passing coming from everyone but especially players like Charlotte Brown, Neamh Stickland and Atalia Del Rio. Was also pleased with the way the girls in midfield gelled with Jen, Harley Jo + Holly up front.   Meg was her usual relentless self and Olivia's passing was back to normal and with Hannah getting a goal and Hollys' hat-trick what more can I say.

Also thanks to Lena in defence who wasn't well at all yesterday.

Therefore come on girls, trip to Clacton next week where we need to revenge the only league defeat we have suffered all season.
Need everyone firing on all cylinders next week!

Gallow Utd 0 - Chigwell 0                    Sunday 14th March 10  - League

Following on from our worst defeat the week prior, the girls were over in Chelmsford territory for the return clash with Gallow Utd.

Our girls were quite confident as our last encounter saw us walk away with six goals and 3 good points, however it was clear to see from the off things were not gelling and I'm not sure if the girls were still shell shocked from the week before but something was not right.

During the first half it did resemble anything like the usual Chigwell game, we did not put the pressure on and were struggling to string their passes together.

Half Time Gallow 0  - Chigwell 0

Second half we did have a goal disallowed from our Holly Higgins for offside, but it was only in the last ten minutes of the game that the girls seemed to come alive and look a bit like their usual selves.

Full Time  Gallow 0 - Chigwell 0

Have to say that Lena Shepherd in defence was outstanding and Harley-Jo Long worked hard also, Emma Bayley in goal as usual giving so much support to all her team mates which is very nice to see but this was not the team we have seen play in the past  and personally thought they played better with the 7 goal hiding the week before.

Girls all through the season you have worked hard, pushed in the games and have been fighting relentlessly but this was not evident on Sunday.  Lets push on and get that Mojo back!   Have said all season you have done yourselves and us proud but have to say the performance on Sunday was disappointing.

Team - Bayley (Captain), Shepherd, Stickland, Harris, Carey, McAuliffe, Higgins, Long, Del'Rio, Brown, Beechey, Butler.
Man of the Match: Lena Shepherd, Well Done

Leigh Ramblers 7 -  Chigwell Girls 0 (CUP GAME) Sunday 7th March 10

Well this is a first writing this, as girls suffered their worst defeat since forming last summer.

We always knew we would have our work cut out, but please do not despair, this was a great lesson and there were some positives to take from this game and lots to learn of course.

The girls held their own for the first 10 mins of the game, but with some fine passing from the Ramblers the first goal was conceded. With more to follow the 2nd one went in and the 3rd which was without doubt offside meant the girls went in 3-0 down at half time.

Have to say that despite the score Emma Bayley in goal was a trooper and feel she had her best game upto date.  Harley Jo Long as well showed such determination and run her little legs off.

Half Time  Leigh Ramblers 3 - Chigwell 0

With the worst start to the second half the girls were 4-0 down in minutes, so now we knew despite the fight back against Barking in our last game a comeback was slipping away from us now.

There were a few chances for our girls to pull one back but the game finished on 7-0 to Leigh Ramblers.

At the end of the day Leigh Ramblers showed their style and obviously have been formed for much longer than our girls and this was evident on the day, but please take note girls we are so proud of you and with hard training and teamwork we can grow and really do believe that we can become a force to reckon with in the future.  If you think about all what you have achieved this season against clubs that have been formed much longer than us, we have certainly more than held our own.

Let's keep pushing on, we still have vital league games left and need to pick up as many points as possible.  CHINS UP GIRLS AND LET'S SHOW LEAGUE B WHAT WE ARE MADE OF!

Team:  Bayley , Butler, Shepherd, Beechey, Harris,  McAulliffe , Carey (Captain), Webb,  Long, Higgins, Stickland, Del Rio, Brown.

Man of the Match -  Harley Jo Long

Special Mention:   Emma Bayley, excellent work in goal and also Neamh Stickland who looked much, much improved so well done for getting stuck in with our hardest match to date, keep it up.

              Chigwell Girls 2 - Barking Ladies 2    Sunday 21st Feb 10

On a wet and miserable Sunday afternoon and with their pitch being declared unplayable, the girls had no option other than to run the gauntlet of a full size pitch which they found a bit daunting.

From our last meeting out with Barking last September and a 6-0 nil victory already in the bag, they seemed pretty confident that they could do the same again but Barking were having none of it and seemed such an improved side since our last meeting.

Barking took advantage of 2 costly mistakes and were two nil up within 10 mins and to be truthful for the first half were clearly the better side.

Therefore for the first time of playing together the girls found themselves two nil down at the half time whistle.

With a stiff talking to they swiftly put their game together and starting working together as a team and with lots of hardwork coming from the midfield,  Atalia Del Rio converted her chance and put Chigwell back in the game with a goal.

Now with a spring in their step, the girls kept pushing and working hard and Holly Higgins scored a cracker to put us back on level peggings.

Now they really were chasing the game but unfortunately Barking were given a penalty and it looked set for them to take the 3 points after all which would've been a shame after the girls had worked so hard to put themselves back in the game, however Emma Bayley in goal was having none of that and threw herself at the spot kick to save the day.

With that literally a minute after, Olivia Carey ran the length of the pitch and it looked like the winner was coming our way but unfortunately it wasn't to be.

Full Time  Chigwell Girls 2 - Barking Ladies 2

Although it was a bad first half the girls showed great character today and literally refused to be beat, with the penalty save being the proof in the pudding.  It was a hard,  gutsy performance.

Team:  Bayley , Butler, Shepherd, Beechey, Harris,  McAulliffe (Captain), Carey, Webb,  Long, Higgins,  Del Rio, Brown.

Scorers: Atalia Del Rio 1 +  Holly Higgins 1

Joint Men of the Match -  Tallulah Butler + Holly Higgins

Special Mention:  Thanks to Olivia Carey for being very brave and coming on to do her bit when she had only had an operation 3 days before and was literally playing with mouthful of stiches and still managed to play out of her skin and Emma Bayley for saving the day with a great penalty save. (Know you were nervous Emma, but you did it girl!)

Chigwell Girls 6 - Gallow Utd 0  (LEAGUE)

With the girls out of action for nearly 2 months, they were more than ready to get a game in this weekend, this being our first one of 2010!

This was our first meeting with Gallow Utd and with no previous experience of this team the girls were taking no chances and within the first 15 mins Holly Higgins scored to make it one nil.  Megan McAuliffe being her usual self and working tirelessly in midfield was rewarded with a goal and it was good to see her name on the scoresheet putting us 2 -0 up.

Olivia Carey put in a nice shot which deflected in from Eleanor Webb 3-0 to the Chigwell and Holly Higgins not to be outdone made it a nice even four by the half time whistle.

Half Time  Chigwell 4 - Gallow Utd 0

To be fair to Gallow Utd, they did all they could in the first 10 minutes of the second half to try and claw their way back into the game, but our defence would not allow them to and half way through Olivia Carey put her name on the scoresheet after having an earlier shot disallowed with a dubious offside call.

With about 5 mins to go Georgia Harris scored from outside of the half way mark, yes I did say half way mark with a truly classic goal and made it 6-0 to our girls.

Full Time  Chigwell Girls 6 - Gallow Utd 0

To be fair the girls did look a bit rusty to start in the first ten minutes or so but they soon settled and praise where praise is due, this was a good team performance considering they had not played together for 2 months and they did what they had to do with the scoreline telling all.

Team:  Bayley (Captain) , Butler, Shepherd, Beechey, Harris,  McAulliffe, Carey, Higgins, Webb  Del Rio, Brown.

Scorers: Holly Higgins 2, Megan McAuliffe 1, Eleanor Webb 1, Olivia Carey + Georgia Harris 1

Joint Men of the Match -  Megan McAullife + Lena Shepherd

Well Done Girls and let's keep pushing to get those points safe and who know's what could happen in our first season!

Chigwell 4 - 1 Brentwood Girls       13th Dec 2009

With this being the second time we have met the Brentwood Girls this season and 3 weeks of no football the girls were looking forward to this their first cup game together.

Brentwood looking to avenge their defeat from earlier in the season were first to draw blood and went one nil up. However the Chigwell Girls were having none of this and well and truly dug their heals in to turn the game around.

Harley Jo Long took her chance well to put us back to level peggings.  1-1 all.

The girls were having so much of the game with corner after corner, that second goal had to come sooner or later and who better than Holly Higgins to make it 2.

Half Time 2-1 to the girls in yellow and blue.

With a couple of changes at half time with Atalia Del Rio coming on and Charlotte Brown making her debut for Chigwell the girls came out exactly as they went in.

The attacking play from Chigwell was great and relentless and on the few occassions that Brentwood were on the break our defence were not having any of it with our captain for the match Lena giving it everything.

Harley Jo Long put us 3-1 up with another well taken chance but still there looked like so many more to come and she put another one in the back of the net to get her first hat-trick for Chigwell Girls. (Well Done Harley)

Full Time  Chigwell Girls 4  -  Brentwood Ladies 1

This was another good team performance from the girls from Emma Bayley at the back to Charlotte Brown on her first appearance, as well as Meg McAullife who put in a brave performance in midfield on her return after her injury in the game against Snaresbrook.

So on we march to the next round of the cup.

Team:  Bayley, Butler, Shepherd (Captain), Beechey,  McAulliffe,  Carey, Stickland, Higgins, Long, Del Rio, Brown.

Scorers: Harley Jo Long 3 - Holly Higgins 1

Man of the Match -  Harley Jo Long - More of that please Miss Long!

Special Mention: To our Chigwell Girls who have both myself and Barry very, very proud in this your first season and keep the hard training up in 2010 to carry on exactly where we have left off.

Wishing you all a very Merry Footballing Christmas and Happy Footballing 2010.  Keep Kicking!

Thanks to all the parents too

Snaresbrook 0 - Chigwell Girls 1 22nd November

On a wet and windy day in the wilds of Wanstead Flats the girls were up against Snaresbrook for the 2nd time this season. With the first clash being such a thriller with a 4-4 all draw, much was expected from this game but it was a hard old fashioned game of football to say the least.

Chigwell had so much of the play with countless chances that hit the bar and went just wide and we were all thinking it's going to be one of those days, however with a chance well taken by Olivia Carey we went 1-0 nil up in the first half.

Half Time - Snaresbrook 0 - Chigwell 1

Chigwell Girls started the second half just the same way with much attacking from Holly Higgins but that second goal would just not go in and the windy weather was taking it's toll.

Half way through the second half Meg McAuliffe suffered a bad injury which saw the team having to be re-organized again but the attacking play continued with a few great passes / moves from Butler + Webb.

Emma Bayley pulled off a stunning (Brave) save once again with Snaresbrook's only real chance at goal which helped keep the 3 points safe in Chigwell's hands. (Well Done)

This was overall a real gutsy game of football from all the girls who pulled together as a team and they kept their concentration together this week which ensured the victory went our way.

Team: Bayley, Butler (Captain), Shepherd, Beechey, McAufliffe, Harris, Carey, Del Rio, Higgins, Webb + Stickland.

Scorer: Olivia Carey

Man of the Match - Lena Shepherd (Well Done Lena, one gutsy performance at the back)

Special Mention: Atalia Del Rio - Well played and great running up front + Neamh Stickland - Well battled
Hannah Beechey - Better attacking, keep at it
Megan McAullife - Meg we are all thinking of you darling and hurry up and get well soon XXXX

       Chigwell Girls 1 - 2 Clacton Athletic   8th November

This was always going to be an interesting game and the girls were well fired up for it as usual.

From the first 5 mins we knew this was going to be a tight knit game, but have to say felt that Chigwell were playing the much more attacking football and were no way fearful of the Clacton reputation, and Clacton knew this was not going to be the walk-over they have come to expect. We came so close at least 3 times with Holly Higgins just firing wide and hitting the post. Also Emma Bayley in goal pulled off a cracking save which literally saw her throw herself at the ball.

Half Time 0-0

Into the second half the game it was clear to see it was becoming a battle ground and the midfield of Meg McAullife, Olivia Carey and Georgia Harris were working their socks off.

Then after much of the play, we finally broke through with a typical Holly Higgins run and went 1-0 nil up, however this was short lived with a bit of lack of concentration and Clacton drew it level to 1-1.

This game carried on becoming more physical from both sides to be fair and Clacton managed to get the winner, however have to say our defence was outstanding.

Without being biaised our girls truly put up a cracking game of football today and do truly believe we deserved the 3 points on the day, however there is so much more to come from this team that at the end of the day only formed 5 months and should really proud of themselves. Only criticism being the equaliser that Clacton pulled back. Still many, many positives girls and take as much as you can from this game which was a great learning curve.

Team:  Bayley, Butler, Shepherd, Beechey (Captain), McAufliffe, Harris, Carey, Webb, Higgins, Long.

Scorer: Holly Higgins

Men of the Match -  Emma Bayley + Tallulah Butler  (Well Done Girls, so pleased with both of you)

Special Mention:  Thanks to Atalia Del'Rio + Neamh Stickland for your special support.
Sorry Nicky Bayley (Hope you are not too bruised!)
Tallulah Butler - Footwork was excellent

Brentwood Ladies 1  - 3 Chigwell Girls 18th Oct League

Back in Brentwood territory on a typical Autumn Day, the girls were up for this afternoon clash, with full squad strength.

The girls roared into the game once the whilstle went and were showing their superiority from the off.  With great work from the midfield coming from Hannah Beechey, Georgia Harris, Meg McAuliffe and Olivia Carey showing great form down the right wing, once again Holly Higgins struck gold with another goal.

The girls went in 1-0 up at half time but to be honest they could've had at least 5 or 6 with attempts coming from Webb and Higgins.

Second Half, all guns blazing up they went 2-0 with another HIGGINS goal (Well Done Holly).  However Brentwood had a struck of luck and clawed back a goal, however have to say stirling performances by Butler and Shepherd in defence. However our girls went pushing on for those crucial 3 points. With a change around Harley Jo -Long came on along with Neamh Stickland and Atalia Del'Rio as our starting line up had well and truly completed some running up and down the field and Del'Rio responded well with her first goal of the season and that was it, signed, sealed and delivered, 3-1 to Chigwell. A great team effort with the whole squad playing their part.

In all honestly the girls had so many attempts on goal this could of been a much higher goal tally, but 3 points well and truly deserved by an all round good team performance from start to finish.

Team:  Bayley, Butler, Shepherd, Beechey, McAufliffe, Harris, Carey (Captain), Webb, Higgins, Long, Stickland and Del'Rio.

Scores:  Holly Higgins 2, Atalia Del'Rio 1 (Well Done Girls)

Man of the Match -  Hannah Beechey

Special Mention:  Well Done Emma Bayley in goal,  pleased with your kicking

Hutton Ladies 2 - 2 Chigwell Girls    4th Oct    League

This was always going to be an interesting match with the current top 2 teams playing each other for the second time already within the space of 5 weeks.  Although Chigwell drew first blood in a friendly match Hutton were well prepared to battle it out today for the points.

Chigwell girls came out with all guns blazing with Holly 'The Tank' Higgins (No offence Hols but you were like Stormin Norman coming down the field) converting 2 good chances which put our girls 2 -0 up.

It would be fair to say that Chigwell well and truly ruled the roost for the first half but Hutton pulled a goal back prior to the half time whistle.

HT 2-1 to Chigwell

Second half the girls from Hutton settled back into the game well despite the Chigwell defence as well as Emma Bayley in goal doing all they could to prevent them scoring an equaliser but to be fair this second goal was always going to come.  On the whole think this was a fair result for both teams and girls from both sides were once again a credit to girls football.

Special Mentions:

Well Done Harley Jo for coming back after an earlier injury in pre-season and keep working hard and we are sure you will be putting the goal in the back of the net before too long!

Happy Birthday to Tallulah Butler who put in a rock solid performance in defence.

Thanks to Tracy Shepherd for rushing Lena over straight from another commitment.

Men of the Match - Holly Higgins for getting on the scoresheet AGAIN! and Olivia Carey who put in some quality passes as well as great running down the wing despite being up all night at Tallulah's sleepover!

Parents / Supporters of the team - Many thanks as the support you and your families are showing for our girls both home and away is brilliant.

Barking Ladies 0 - 6 Chigwell Girls     27th Sept  League

On a beautiful late summers day, the girls went East over to Barking Football Club where they were more than ready for today's clash.

The girls were looking strong from the off and after about 10 mins, just the same as last week Eleanor Webb cracked in a great goal to put our girls 1-0 up.  There was much battling going on in the midfield with Hannah Beechey in the thick of it against her old club but Beechey gave as good as she got.
Megan 'Duracell' McAuliffe was also outstanding and never stopped running for the duration.

On the half time whistle the girls were one - nil up.

However coming out in the second half on a very hot day, Olivia Carey scored her first goal of the season for the Chigwell Chicks to put us 2-0 up.  Unfortunately it only got worse for Barking with them conceding an own goal to make it 3-0.

Holly Higgins not to be out-done went on to make it 4-0 with Olivia Carey putting her name on the scoresheet again to make it 5!

With the game well and truly over with minutes to spare Higgins scored to make it a nice even 6.

Once again it was a great performance by the whole team who all put in great effort and seem to be gelling so well together.

Well done girls, great result. However usually there is a Man of the Match but have to say 3 girls get the accolades today as was so difficult to choose between them and they were Holly Higgins, Megan McAullife and Olivia Carey.

Scorers: Webb (1), Carey (2)  Higgins (2) + OG

 Chigwell 4 - 4 Snaresbrook     20th Sept   League

Coming off the back of their win the week before against Hutton (Cup Finalists From last season) the girls were ready and willing for their first ever game in the league as Chigwell Girls FC.

The game could not have got off to a worse start with the girls in yellow and blue going 1-0 down in the first minute of the game.

Not to be put off they picked themselves up and threw themselves into the game with a vengeance. A cracking goal by Eleanor Webb brought us back on equal peggings and Holly Higgins who is on fire at the moment put in another 2 goals to take our girls to 3-1up by half time.

Snaresbrook who were never going to be put off brought it back to 3-3 in the second half of the game, but Chigwell kept pressing forward. Great attempts by both Olivia Carey and Eleanor Webb however denied.  With 10 mins to go Holly Higgins scoring her hat-trick put us up 4-3.  Surely this must be it but Snaresbrook brought it back level to 4-4.
Even with a couple of minutes to go Emma Bayley in goal pulled off a great save
to keep us picking up a well deserved point.

This was a cracking game of girls football and all of our team showed spirit today, especially after Webb went off with a nasty cut over her nose and was back on again in the second half and Tallulah Butler and Lena Shepherd in defence showing battle scars by the end of it.

On this performance we have a lot to look forward to on our debut season, well done girls, very proud.
